Similar to prosper.com except with an angle of giving to underdeveloped world kiva.org has an awesome business model. Kiva works with microcredit organizations around the world to identify entrepreneurs who are in need of some capital to develop their business. The small loan can also provide the entrepreneur a way to actually make a little profit instead of much if not all of it going to pay back loan sharks. y choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can "sponsor a business" and help the world's working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the business you've sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back. The amounts requested range from $25 to $1200...nothing that will break the bank.
